Yoga Styles
At Sammati Yoga Studio, we offer two main styles of yoga: astanga and hatha. On the schedule you will also find styles that are derived from these main styles or that are a combination of styles.
Furthermore, we offer a few special styles: astanga mysore, prenatal, yoga basics and mediation. To familiarise yourself with the different styles and to make sure you will find a class that suits you best, please check out the style descriptions below. Sammati Yoga Studio offers yoga for different levels of experience, from beginners to advanced. All classes that are indicated as Beginner classes on the schedule, are appropriate for beginners (sounds logical, right?).
It is also possible as a beginner to take part in the classes that have a label ‘all levels’. These are classes which are not aimed at beginners because some more advanced postures will be introduced, but when you're comfortable enough you're always welcome to join. Advanced classes are best suited for yogis with more experience.
Hatha
In Hatha Yoga classes the emphasis lies on strengthening and loosening up the body and increasing concentration to stable, regular breathing. With Hatha Yoga practice your body will feel open en strong, your breathing unobstructed and your mind calm and quiet – ready for sitting meditation.
Ashtanga LED
In the Astanga Yoga Led class the teacher leads the class through a part of the Primary Series of the Astanga Vinyasa Yoga system – attentively, slowly and with focus. The breath connects the body with the deepest part of the mind – the soul. Breath is the soul of Astanga.
Yoga Basic
If you’d like to become familiar with the basics of a yoga practice, are looking for more detailed instructions in the poses or are dealing with an injury, then this yoga basics class is the perfect class for you! The basics and fundamentals of yoga poses are introduced.
